This group exhibition, entitled “Consume society – Consumed society” was a site specific exhibition, concieved in the “Kunstprojekt : International Temporary Art” (K:ITA) and curated by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung; born in Cameroon but lives and works in Germany and France. This video-except is of the opening ceremony of the exhibition, from the Berliner Kunstkontakter (www.berlinerkunstkontakter.de).
The curator, Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, invited 10 international contemporary artists (from Europe, Asia and Africa) resident in Berlin, with different emphases in contemporary art (photography, painting, performance and installation) to articulate their very personal impressions on “Consume society – Consumed society”. Concordant with the diversity in the backgrounds of the artists, the exhibition was enriched by a manifold of viewpoints and reflected aptly a psycho-social and socio-political framework of our “modern society”, irrespective of if we come from Africa, America, Asia, Australia or Europe. The exhibition also aimed at offering a podium for a healthy debate on the values of “Consume society” and “Consumed society”, as two sides of the same coin.
The following artists contributed works for the exhibition: Alexander Steffens (Germany/ Britain), Alice Masprone (Italy), Anna Blaszczyk (Poland), Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung (Cameroon), Filip Itoito (Poland), Fong Ponto (Holland/ China/ Indonesia), Joris Vanpoucke (Belgium), Luiza LaPupazza (Italy), Silvio Streddi (Italy), Stephanie Mai (Germany).
